about

After watching George Floyd murder, I had to remix (I originally released it in 2015). All tracks were redone except for the guitar solo which was in the original track as I revisited my roots. R.I.P. George and all the young black men; women; indigenous and people of colour who tragically lost their lives at the hands of police forces.

lyrics

Oh Lawd, yes mi say man
A war dis yuh know man

Yuh can hold mi
‘N throw mi to di ground
Yuh can choke mi ‘cause my skin is black or brown
Yuh can chase mi
Press your knee upon
My neck, oh Lawd
Because I, I, I, Lawed
Ah can’t breathe
Oh no man

Ah can’t breathe
Ah can’t breathe
Mi tryin’ to catch mi breath wit yuh knee
Up on my neck
Ah can’t breathe, no Lawd ah can’t breathe
No reason for di pain, there’s nothin’ to gain
‘Cause mi can’t breathe

There’s no reason
For you to act dis way
Bredda
Mi a human
No matter what you say
Di times a changing
But di road is long n’ steep
Still I, I, I, mi say man
Ah can’t breathe
No bredda man, oh Lawed

Ah can’t breathe
Ah can’t breathe
Mi tryin’ to catch mi breath
Wit your knee
Upon my neck
Ah can’t breathe
No Lawd
Ah can’t breathe
No reason for di pain
There’s nothin’ to gain
‘Cause mi can’t breathe
Mmmm bredda, oh Lawd

The world need more love

N’ all di while
Mi struggling
To take care of mi own
Mi fightin’ fa mi freedom
Like a dog without a bone
Mi look toward mi Saviour as ah sense, i’m goin’ home
Oh, n’ I, I, I, Lawd
Ah can’t breathe
Mi say man, oh

Ah can’t breathe
Ah can’t breathe
Mi tryin’ to catch
Mi breath wit yuh knee
Upon my neck
Ah can’t breathe, oh Lawd ah can’t breathe
No reason for di pain there’s nothtin’ to gain
‘Cause mi can’t breathe

Ah can’t breathe
Mi can’t breathe
Mi can’t breathe
No matta wat a do
Oh Lawd awe
Policeman say no
No matta wat ah do
