about
This is a Gospel/Inspirational track about keeping the faith. The lyrics speaks to the killing of George Floyd and the many other black young men, women and people of colour killed at the hands of police worldwide. In particular, it addresses the notion of one contemplating suicide given the conditions. I composed this track on piano ( as I do for all my songs) and did all the midi parts. I also played the small trombone riff(s) in between as well as all the backup vocals. This was composed in my home studio.
lyrics
I know at times, you feel like quittin’
Just wanna make it end
The road ahead is long and narrow mmmm
Can’t see around the bend, no, no, no, no
N’ although you feel like no one cares
He’s always by your side
Oh oh oh oh, oh oh oh oh oh
So don’t you give up, don’t throw it in
Stick to the promise that’s deep within
He hears your cries, your pain and sorrows
Maybe tomorrow you’ll fit right in
Woah woah wahhhhhh mmmmm
Listen child
You’ve lived your life from minute to minute, mmmm
Always so close to the edge, woah woah woah ahhhh, mmmm
The dreams you had, have all been shattered
Nowhere to lay your head
Nowhere to lay your head ah
N’ when it seems no light will shine on you
N’ your burdens’ are too much to bare woah
Don’t you give up, don’t throw it in
Stick to the promise that lies within, oh oh oh oh oh
He hears your cries, your pain and sorrows
Maybe tomorrow, you’ll fit right in
Woah woah woah ahhhhhh, mmmmm
Don’t you give up, don’t throw it in
Stick to the promise, that’s deep within, oh, oh, oh, oh
He hears your cries, your pain and sorrows
Maybe tomorrow you’ll fit right in, woah woah woah
Don’t give up, stick to the promise
Woah ahhhhh ahhhhhh

Just checked this out and was captivated by the brilliance of Jason's playing; reminiscent of Herbie, Monk, Art Tatum, Keith Jarrett not to mention Chick Corea Oscar (OP) Peterson and da Duke! Pat Reid
